The Derry Township Police Department is warning residents of a recent scam targeting our community. Individuals, posing as Derry Township Police Officers, have been contacting residents, claiming they have missed jury duty and must pay fines through unconventional methods. These scammers are using technology to spoof our Department’s phone number, making it appear as though the call is coming from our agency. Please be aware that we do not handle jury duty matters, and we will never ask you to pay fines or costs by purchasing money orders, gift cards, or bitcoin. If you receive such a call, do not provide any personal or financial information. Instead, hang up and contact us immediately to verify the legitimacy of the call. We are committed to protecting our community from these fraudulent activities. Remember, it is essential to remain vigilant and cautious when receiving unsolicited calls. If you have any doubts or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Stay safe and thank you for your cooperation.
