The Township of Derry Board of Supervisors adopted a climate action resolution focusing on climate change and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. The resolution recognizes climate change as one of the most critical sustainability issues threatening our community’s long-term human and environmental health, social well-being, and economic vitality. The Township commits to serving as a model community to protect our citizens’ health and welfare, create a Climate Change Advisory Committee, and make climate change and the migration of GHG emissions an ongoing focus to reduce adverse climate impact.

In 2018, the Township of Derry Board of Supervisors passed Resolution 1555, which, among other things, supports and encourages the goals of the CACC.
The Derry Township CCAC is a group of citizen-volunteers who inform the Township of Derry Board of Supervisors on matters of Township planning that impact our community’s ability to adapt to and mitigate the negative consequences of climate change. The CCAC encourages responsible decision-making that upholds Article 1, Section 27 of the state constitution – Environmental Rights Amendment: The people have a right to clean air, pure water, and the preservation of natural, scenic, historic, and esthetic values of the environment. The CCAC also works with other community groups on projects that support the health and well-being of all who live in and visit Derry Township.
