The Public Works Department is housed in a 35,000-square-foot facility located at 650 Clearwater Road, Hershey, which opened in 1994. The Public Works Department provides a wide variety of services, including the maintenance of 138 miles of roadway and 14 miles of alleys, which require paving, snow removal, storm sewer maintenance, street sweeping, leaf collection, and grass cutting along rights-of-way, as well as signage and line painting. The department also provides building and park maintenance, as well as fleet maintenance, for the Township, the Derry Township School District buses, the Derry Township Municipal Authority, and the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company.

To report a dead deer or removal of one or other road safety concern(s), please contact the PA Department of Transportation at 1-800-FIX-ROAD if it’s a state road or the Game Commission at 1-833-742-4868 or 1-833-742-9453 if it’s a local road.
The department consists of a director, an assistant Director, a secretary, three mechanics,
and seventeen skilled laborers/drivers.
