3rd Public Meeting to be Held on Stormwater Management Program
December 15, 2016 @ 6:00 pm
Thursday, December 15, 6:00 p.m.
Stormwater management is important to our community. It is necessary to manage rain water that is not absorbed by lawns and gardens so that it does not have a harmful effect on streams and does not cause flooding.
The Derry Township Municipal Authority (DTMA) staff and consultants have been diligently working on the transition of the responsibilities for managing the Township’s stormwater program from the Township to DTMA. With the support of the Township Supervisors and staff, DTMA is working to develop and implement a comprehensive, Township-wide, Stormwater Management Program (SMP). A stormwater Stakeholder Advisory Committee was created and has been utilized by DTMA as a sounding board for matters related to the SMP, its policies and implementation, and stormwater related topics that affect the Township.
The foundation of an effective SMP is the development of a fair and equitable SMP fee to provide for a reliable revenue stream. Revenues generated by the SMP fees will support the SMP and its goals to insure MS4 Permit regulatory compliance, effective infrastructure operation and maintenance, intelligent planning for capital improvements, and public education on practices to improve the quality of stormwater.
Please plan to join us on Thursday, December 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue, to learn more about the Stormwater Management Program, its funding, and to ask general questions. More information can be found on DTMA’s website.
